The 607 CSA Promotes
The 607 CSA promotes responsible, thoughtful husbandry and land management with the express goal of producing nutritious, clean, and vibrant food. While not all of our partner farms are certified organic, we pride ourselves in following standards that consider the health and welfare of the land and livestock, in addition to the habitat, waterways, and wildlife in our foodshed. Importantly, we are working with our farms to create standards that also prioritize the health, happiness, and well-being of the farmers and farmworkers growing the food.
We share the vision of the National Young Farmers Coalition. Collectively, we’re working towards “a just future where farming is free of racial violence, accessible to communities, oriented towards environmental well-being, and concerned with health over profit.”
The 607 CSA Strives to Avoid
Farms associated with The 607 CSA should strive to avoid:
applications of chemical pesticides, herbicides, or fungicides in the production of their produce
inhumane confinement of livestock meant for consumption
improperly and illegally prepared value-added food products.
Farms should also avoid exploitative labor practices. Our members have come to expect that a certain philosophical and ethical standard from our farms be put into practice.
Based on these standards, we have built a relationship of trust, and it is important to maintain this trust by delivering food grown and goods made with principles in mind which our members have specifically endorsed through their spending.
The 607 CSA Will Not Knowingly Sell
Market-worn, expired or damaged products.
Products grown with the use of chemical pesticides, herbicides, or fungicides.
Vegetables, meat, or dairy produced by a farm that is not an approved partner of The 607 CSA.
Meat or dairy products not processed in a USDA- or 5A-inspected facility.
Meat or dairy products that are not ethically raised and humanely treated.
