Sliding Scale

In an effort to make nutritious, local food available to as many New Yorkers as possible, The 607 CSA is offering sliding-scale payment for all shares. We trust you to assess your own situation and decide where your household falls on the scale. Know that if you are able to pay more, you will be helping to provide access to other members of the community who are paying less. We also offer a weekly or bi-weekly payment plan for regular priced shares.

The income calculator is a reference (and doesn’t take personal wealth into account). Please do whatever works best for you and your circumstances. All of these options are intended to make The 607 CSA as flexible and empowering as possible for all of our members!

To pay 15% less, enter the code LESS at checkout...

Reasons to pay less might include: Medical expenses (partially covered or not covered by insurance), chronic illness (prohibits you from your potential earning powers), significant debt (including student loans), immigration fees, rehabilitation fees, receipt of government assistance, the cost of living in New York!!, etc

If you can afford to pay 15% more, enter the code MORE at checkout...

Reasons to pay more might include: Part-time work by choice, recreational travel, inherited money and access to family money in time of need (family wealth), investments (stocks, bonds), higher education, etc.

SNAP Benefits

Sadly, due to glitches in the federal bureaucracy, will not be able to accept SNAP for fall shares. The USDA makes it nearly impossible for small, adaptive groups like ours to become “authorized” to support our communities in this way. We are frustrated and disappointed, but are committed to being a part of changing the systems for the better going forward (even if it takes a bit longer).

If you have already signed up for a fall share with SNAP, we will be reaching out to you. For anyone else with questions, please feel free to reach out to us as always.

Solidarity Shares

For a solidarity or further cost-adjusted share, please reach out using this form, or email info@the607csa.com with any questions.

We didn’t invent this model. Many CSAs are shifting to a solidarity economy. In particular, we would like to thank our friends at Soul Fire Farm, Rock Steady Farm, Zenger Farm , and Brooklyn Grange for their inspiration and guidance in implementing this version of a sliding scale model.

Every little bit helps.

Please consider making a donation to our food sovereignty projects. Every little bit helps!

As we prepare for our 2024 CSA season, we are continuing to fund our ongoing work with upstate pantries, NYC-based mutual aid organizations, and land access endeavors, in addition to funding our new sliding scale pricing structure and other solidarity donations.
